Clarendon Academy, a thriving co-educational, non-denominational secondary school and sixth form, is looking to expand its existing team of Exam Invigilators to supervise students ...
I am a passionate and proud teacher and school leader. I began my teaching career in 2006 as a Maths teacher in Berkshire. Since then, I have worked at schools in Hampshire and Wiltshire. I joined Clarendon as an Advanced Skills Teacher in 2013. I have had various positions of leadership including Assistant and Deputy Headteacher, before taking over as Head of School in 2021.
I originally come from Newbury and now live not far from Trowbridge. I am married with three children, who between them attend both primary and secondary schools locally. I am first and foremost a family man, and fully understand what it is like to send your children to school under the care of other adults.
So, I say with confidence that Clarendon Academy is a lovely school to be part of. We are a kind
and supportive school at the heart of the Trowbridge community and we will take great care of your children.
We will do this by basing everything we do around our mission statement: Aspire to Excellence.
To achieve our mission statement, we ensure that our 3 school values are at the core of all we do:
Respect: being kind and caring for ourselves and others
Determination: working hard and never giving up
Excellence: ensuring everything we do is our best work
We can all achieve excellence if we live by those 3 simple values.
I am proud that our wonderful school is part of the Acorn Education Trust. This is a Trust I have worked closely with since before Clarendon joined and I know that it brings with it incredible support to the schools it holds under its umbrella. It is thanks to Acorn’s backing and services, that we at Clarendon can provide so well for our student community.
Here at Clarendon, our students arrive as enthusiastic children in Year 7; they leave us at the end
of Year 13 as fully rounded young adults, ready to face the world with confidence and belief that they can go on and achieve their dreams.
Mr Craig Turze | Headteacher
Clarendon Academy is a thriving co-educational 11-18 comprehensive academy within the Acorn Education Trust. We pride ourselves on being a centre of excellence and a place where young, enthusiastic children enter in Year 7 and leave us at the end of Year 13 as fully rounded young adults.
We have a strong reputation in the community for being a school with high standards of teaching and learning. We aim for every lesson, every day to be exceptional.
We are enhanced by our strong pastoral care. We care deeply about our students and work tirelessly to ensure they can achieve their dreams. We are proud of our three Houses: Eagle, Kestrel and Falcon. The students love being part of their House and feel ownership of it (they are all super competitive with each other).
Clarendon Academy is full of exceptional staff and students, who work together as a team on the three key areas of school life: engagement for all; challenge for all; progress for all.
We believe in fostering strong relationships with our students and creating in them a sense of belonging to the school. We want students to have high self-worth and love coming to school.
As a school, we take pride in how well we know our students as individuals and aim to challenge them as such. Each student is unique in their own way and each has different needs. We aim to know all of our students extremely well and go the extra mile to meet their needs.
Through this mix of care and challenge, we have a vibrant and successful school.
Building on our successful Ofsted inspection in December 2017, we want Clarendon Academy to continue to be a prosperous place of learning, to serve the local community and beyond, and maintain its reputation as a school that we can all be proud of.

The Acorn Education Trust was formed in August 2014 to create a local solution to a national strategy. Through close collaboration and a shared vision we believe each school will achieve great things while retaining their individual identity. Underpinning this close collaboration is a strong belief in our core purpose.
School improvement is the key to school effectiveness and is at the heart of the process of raising standards. It allows us to deliver an education for all children/students that is of the highest quality. The Acorn Education Trust is driven by its core purpose of improving outcomes and life chances for students and believes that an effective School Improvement Strategy is the key to unlocking the potential in its leaders, staff and children/students. An effective Multi-Academy Trust (MAT) uses the School Improvement Strategy to help ensure accountability, drive strategic thinking and deploy resources in order to improve outcomes for its children/students. Our leadership and management of each school is based on three principles:
Every school is an improving school
Leadership at every level is critical
The unique identity of each school must be preserved
